Memorial Day weekend is fast approaching, and Dallas has numerous options for celebrating and honoring America’s fallen heroes.
Dallas will be packed with marches, concerts, and other celebrations this upcoming three-day weekend, ending on Memorial Day on Monday, May 26. Here are some of the top events happening in the city.
Dallas Symphony Orchestra Memorial Day Concert
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra will present a patriotic performance on Memorial Day, followed by a fireworks display. Pre-show entertainment kicks off at 6:40 p.m. on May 26 at 8015 Doran Circle (Rain site: Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center).
Sequoia Training Club at 1201 East Levee Street will host the physically charged event on May 26 at noon in honor of Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a U.S. Navy SEAL who gave his life in 2005 during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan. Try his famous workout, which regularly saw him complete a one-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 bodyweight squats, and finally, another one-mile run.
Join community members on May 25 and 26 to pay tribute to fallen American servicemembers in the annual Dallas Memorial March. Gates at Reverchon Park (3505 Maple Ave) open at noon on Sunday. The opening ceremonies start at 3:30 p.m., with the 20-hour march departing at 4:30 p.m. Of course, you do not have to commit to the full 20-hour march to join.
Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens
Memorial Day Family Fun Weekend runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 24-26 at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Expect a petting zoo, historical tours of the DeGolyer House, and other festivities. Tickets are $25.95 for adults and $21.95 for children ages two through 12. Kids under two are free.
Boots & Barbecue Fest at Legacy Hall
Legacy Hall at 7800 Windrose Ave will celebrate Memorial Day on Saturday, May 24, with BBQ, live music, local vendors, and more. Doors open at 1:00 p.m., and live shows kick off at 2:00 p.m. General admission tickets start at $10 (plus taxes and fees).
