Council Member Cara Mendelsohn has dusted the field — again!
The Council representative for District 12 has added another Dallas Derby win to her belt.
Dallas Express’ readers residing in Dallas proper are invited monthly to respond to the Rate Your Council Member survey.
Respondents to the survey are asked to share how effective they feel their elected representatives on the Dallas City Council were that month on a range of critical city issues such as crime, homelessness, and cleanliness.
Having dominated Dallas Derby since the feature’s launch, Mendelsohn is a constituent favorite. But for the first time in a few months, she has a Council colleague approaching in her rearview mirror: Chad West of District 1.
In the November survey, Mendelsohn earned an 8.1 out of 10 for crime reduction, 7.2 for homelessness reduction, 7.3 for aggressive panhandling reduction, 7.3 for city cleanliness, 6.9 for street repair and maintenance, and 8.6 for park maintenance and cleanliness. Mendelsohn underperformed her year-to-date average in each category.
Based on the varying scores in each category, her average for the month is 7.7, down from 8.7. West, however, shot a combined score of 7.4 for November, just 0.3 behind Mendelsohn for the month. However, his strong performance only pulled his year-to-date average to 4.4.
For his part, Mayor Eric Johnson scored 4.4 in November’s survey. His year-to-date average score is 4.9.
Interim City Manager Kimberly Tolbert earned a 2.8 in November. Her year-to-date average score is 2 out of 10.
Council Member Jaynie Schultz (District 11) earned the lowest average for November, scoring 1.4 out of 10 in the survey.
