Business Owner Shoots One, Other Arrested During Break-In

An investigation is ongoing after one man was shot by a business owner and another was arrested for allegedly breaking into his business in Deep Ellum.

According to the Dallas Police Department, just before 3 a.m. on February 21, a business owner was asleep inside his establishment when two suspects apparently kicked in the door of the building in the 3000 Block of Canton Street, near South Malcolm X Boulevard.

The owner reportedly shot one of the men, and the individual was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

The second man was not injured and was arrested.

A grand jury will decide if the the business owner’s actions will be considered self-defense.
