A Southwest Airlines flight was canceled after a bullet hit the aircraft as it was getting ready to leave from Dallas Love Field Airport for Indianapolis.

According to a spokesperson for Southwest, all passengers and crew members were unharmed, and alternative arrangements were made for the passengers on another flight. The aircraft struck by gunfire has been taken out of service, per The Associated Press.

“Southwest Airlines Flight 2494 was set to depart for Indianapolis when a bullet apparently struck the right side of the plane, just below the flight deck, as the crew was preparing for takeoff,” according to a statement sent via email from a spokesperson for Southwest Airlines, reported by Reuters.

The Federal Aviation Administration released the following statement: “While taxiing for takeoff at Dallas Love Field Airport, Southwest Airlines Flight 2494 was reportedly struck by gunfire near the cockpit around 8:30 p.m. local time on Friday, Nov. 15. The Boeing 737-800 returned to the gate, where passengers deplaned. The flight was headed to Indianapolis International Airport. Contact the FBI for more on the investigation.”

Dallas officers arrived at the scene of the shooting, which was reported around 9:48 p.m. at 8000 Herb Keller Way. Both the Dallas Police and Dallas Fire-Rescue were dispatched to the situation, reported NBC 5 DFW. The investigation is ongoing.

Dallas Love Field Airport announced on X that the runway has reopened since the incident.
