A young bull rider was recently saved from serious injury by his father at the Bell County Rodeo in Belton, Texas.

Cody Hooks, 18, shared a video on his Instagram page showing him being thrown off a bull after coming out of the gate at the rodeo.

As he lay on the ground unconscious, the bull moved around the ring violently, as bullfighters tried to control it.

His father, Landis Hooks, then jumped down into the ring. A few seconds after Landis reached his son, the animal headed in their direction with its horns down.

In an effort to protect his son, Landis wrapped himself around Cody so that he was hit by the bull instead of the teenager.

In the post, Cody also thanked the bullfighters for their efforts to save him. Neither Cody nor his dad suffered any major injuries.
