Two Dallas firefighters were injured Thursday morning after responding to a fire at the old Valley View Center in North Dallas.

The fire started around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday and created heavy smoke, Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) said.

Firefighters were taken out of the building after being trapped for a short time. Both were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, DFR said.

The Dallas Express visited the scene at 11:15 a.m. and 40 fire trucks remained on the scene at 13331 Preston Road.

The old abandoned shopping center, which is in the process of being torn down, was hit by another fire last month.

The cause of Thursday morning’s fire is under investigation.
