Royal Ransomware, the group allegedly responsible for the ransomware attack against the City of Dallas two weeks ago, is reportedly threatening to release data obtained in the breach.
The data could include contact information, social security numbers, and “thousands and thousands” of government documents.
However, the City previously claimed there was “no indication that data from residents, vendors, or employees has been leaked.”
On Friday, Royal Ransomware allegedly claimed responsibility for the cyber attack and threatened to release personal data they obtained.
Referencing a quote from the City in which Dallas said there was “no indication” that any data had been released, the Royal group apparently had a retort.
“We are going to indicate that the data will be leaked soon,” the ransomware group allegedly said on its purported leak blog. “We will share here in our blog tons of personal information of employees (phones, addresses, credit cards, SSNs, passports), detailed court cases, prisoners, medical information, clients’ information and thousands and thousands of governmental documents.”
The City responded with a press release saying officials are aware of the post and are continuing to “monitor the situation.”
“[We] maintain there is no evidence or indication that data has been compromised,” the City said.
