A convicted sex offender was arrested by Laredo Sector Border Patrol Agents earlier this month after he was stopped for a check. A look into his records revealed that he had a prior conviction for the sexual assault of a child.
According to a news release by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 49-year-old Domingo Hernandez-Estrada, a citizen of Mexico, was stopped by agents alongside other unlawful immigrants near the Rio Grande in downtown Laredo.
When patrol agents conducted record checks on Hernandez-Estrada, they found that he was a registered sex offender who had a felony conviction for sexual assault of a child.
Hernandez-Estrada’s conviction had come with a sentence of 10 years’ probation.
