Dallas police and a bank teller saved an elderly man from being a scam victim, according to a Dallas Police Department statement. The officers involved were recognized at a press conference on Monday.

The bank teller called 911 after becoming apprehensive when he tried to withdraw $10,000 from his bank account.

The man had already left the bank before Dallas police arrived, sending them on a hunt at various banks until they located him along with the suspect.

Dallas Police Department’s Deputy Chief Albert Martinez said, “This is just a piece in a very big puzzle. So, we ask our citizens, we ask the public to work with your financial institutions and law enforcement. Take the moment to have dialogue, so you can prevent this from happening on the forefront.”

The Dallas PD has a specific squad created to center on fraud scams that target the elderly.
