Two men on the Texas 10 Most Wanted list are back in custody. One of the men is a fugitive, while the other is a sex offender.
The fugitive, Alberto Mendoza, was arrested on Oct. 13 at a residence in southern Dallas. The police have wanted the 21-year-old since December 2020 on charges that he engaged in organized criminal activity and committed a parole violation. In September, Mendoza was added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List.
Mendoza was found guilty on four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2016. He received an eight-year prison sentence but was released on parole in 2018. However, authorities say that he violated the terms of his parole.
The second man on the list, Cory Reed, is a sex offender arrested on Oct. 14 in Canyon, a town about 20 miles south of Amarillo. The 30-year-old was captured by a task force that included U.S. Marshals and DPS Special Agents.
Reed was added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders List in September and has been declared wanted since 2020 after he failed to register as a sex offender.
Reed was convicted of two counts of sexual assault of a child following incidents involving a 14-year-old girl in 2010. He was given a sentence of ten years probation.
Mendoza and Reed were captured with the help of tips investigators received through Texas Crime Stoppers. Officials say the individuals who provided the information that led to the capture of both men will be rewarded.
