Phone and internet services have finally been restored in a South Dallas neighborhood after a nearly two-week outage inconvenienced residents and hampered businesses in the area.

Copper thieves are allegedly responsible for an AT&T internet and phone service outage in the 75210 ZIP code of South Dallas that began on Christmas Day.

AT&T reported that service in the area has been fully restored as of this week, according to The Dallas Morning News.

“We appreciate the patience of our customers,” AT&T said in an email to the DMN.

Fred Conwright, owner of Two Podners Restaurant, had previously suggested that the location of the outage had played a role in how fast the company responded to remedy the situation, noting that other areas of the city might have seen a quicker response.

However, AT&T denied those allegations in an email to the DMN.

“Any suggestion that location or demographics impacted the restoration of service for our customers is false,” said AT&T. “We treat all outages with urgency and handle them as quickly as possible. There were damages to multiple pieces of equipment in multiple areas and we worked around the clock to restore service for our customers.”
