The Dallas Builders Association announced that it would hold its annual Parade of Homes on May 6. This one-day event will showcase a variety of styles of luxury homes in the Dallas area.

This parade is a self-guided tour of seven new or recently remodeled high-end custom homes. Event organizers recommend that visitors allow 45 minutes to tour each of the homes, including drive time between each location on the tour.

“Each home in this scattered site tour will be fully decorated and landscaped, featuring the very finest in innovative home building and custom craftsmanship,” John Porizek, president of the Dallas Builders Association, told The Dallas Morning News.

“Visitors will be able to tour these luxury homes, experiencing state-of-the-art technology, energy efficiency, and architectural design,” he continued.

Builders participating in this year’s event include Keen Homes, Richard Miller Custom Homes, Classic Urban Homes, Hoffmann Homes, Alexander Hunt Distinct Homes, and Shaddock Caldwell.

“Our goal is to focus on four fundamental principles — good sitting, well-designed floor plans, elegant exteriors that blend with the neighborhood, and details that transmit quality, warmth, character, care, and thought,” the Alexander Hunt Distinct Homes webpage states.

Parade of Homes Chairman Mark Alexander told The Dallas Morning News that modern homeowners seek a “balance between large open spaces with lots of glass connecting the indoors to the outdoors. Outdoor living spaces are also a hot item in today’s designs.”

He added that these features are a universal theme in this year’s Parade of Homes.

Ticket sale proceeds from the home tour benefit Operation Finally Home, according to the Parade of Homes website. This organization provides custom mortgage-free homes to combat-wounded U.S. military veterans.

Tickets for the event are $25 per person, and the homes are open for viewing from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
