A person was shot to death in Grand Prairie after allegedly attempting to rob a store on Thursday.

According to Grand Prairie Police, the department received a call about an armed robbery at a store in the 1600 block of West Polo Road at about 9 p.m. on May 5. Upon arrival, responding officers found the alleged robber inside the store with a gunshot wound.

Out of fear for his life and an employee’s life, a customer in the store shot the accused robber. The customer has a concealed handgun license and is cooperating with the police investigation.

Authorities advised that the customer who shot the alleged robber would not be charged with any offense.

The supposed robber was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Authorities have not revealed the names of the suspect or the customer, nor the store where the incident took place.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the suspect’s identity once it has notified his next of kin.

An investigation is ongoing.
