Artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly influential role in American politics, from campaign strategy and voter outreach to national security and public policy. A panel discussion Tuesday in North Texas will bring together elected officials and technology experts to examine how AI is reshaping democratic processes and political decision-making.

The event, titled “AI in Politics,” is hosted by the American Jewish Conservatives and will take place Tuesday, January 27, at Hooky Entertainment.

Organizers say the discussion is intended to focus on real-world applications of artificial intelligence already being used in campaigns, governance, and public communications — as well as the ethical and constitutional questions raised by rapidly advancing technology.

Lawmakers To Address Policy And Security Implications

The evening will begin with legislative updates from Beth Van Duyne, a Republican representing Texas’ 24th Congressional District, and Tan Parker, a Republican state senator. Both are expected to address how emerging technologies intersect with public policy, election integrity, and national security at the federal and state levels.

Their remarks come as Texas and federal officials increasingly treat artificial intelligence as a strategic issue with implications for defense, infrastructure, data security, and political communication.

Experts Examine Ethics And Practical Risks

Following the legislative remarks, the event will feature a moderated panel discussion with private-sector and academic experts experienced in artificial intelligence and data analytics.

Panelists include Alexander Sicular, a health AI strategic advisor and former Google executive, and Tim McDonough, a clinical professor at Southern Methodist University who teaches artificial intelligence, data analytics, and machine learning.

The discussion will be moderated by Alexander David McMath, managing principal at Atelier Strategy & Development.

Topics are expected to include the benefits and risks of AI-assisted political tools, safeguards against misuse, and how voters and policymakers can better understand technologies that increasingly shape civic life.
