Fort Worth police are looking for a suspect who injured a 4-year-old girl in a hit-and-run incident on Independence Day.

Officers responded to the scene in southeast Fort Worth on July 4. In the 2500 block of Malvern Road, near Highway 287 and Mitchell Road, they found a 4-year-old girl, injured but alive.

The child was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth by a private vehicle. Police believe her injuries are not life-threatening. She is recovering in the hospital and is expected to survive.

The vehicle was traveling westbound on Malvern Road when it hit the girl and then fled the scene, according to Fort Worth police.

An eyewitness was able to get the driver’s license plate number of the vehicle that hit the child. Officers later found the car in south Fort Worth and had it impounded.

Fort Worth officers believe they know the identity of the driver. They did not reveal that information, however, and no arrest has been made in connection to the hit-and-run.
