The Carrollton Police Department, on Tuesday, Sept. 28, announced that a 17-year-old father had been charged with the murder of his infant son. Caleb Blake Brown of Carrollton was arrested by detectives Tuesday morning.

Together with the baby’s mother, brought his three-week-old son, Emerson Ziesmer, to the emergency room at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano on Aug. 9. The mother had noticed the baby was pale, and he had visible bruising around his abdomen. The baby, who was only twenty-four days old, was transferred to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy on the child revealed that he had suffered multiple displaced ribs and a lacerated liver.

Detectives, while investigating the baby’s death, discovered Brown was angry at the baby’s mother for not aborting the baby and that he had concerns about paying child support.

In an affidavit for his arrest warrant, Brown said he had squeezed the baby and repeatedly threw him in the air until he eventually hit the ceiling fan while Brown was alone with the infant.

Brown is currently being held in the Denton County Jail, and his bond has been set at $2 million.
