Families are left displaced and devastated by the tragic explosion that occurred at the Highland Hills Apartment complex on Wednesday. Mount Tabor Baptist Church provided affected residents with free food and water on Saturday, Oct. 2.

The church made provision for 1,100 cases of food and water. All were given away within a couple of hours.

Pastor Braden Walker was one of the volunteers on Saturday. “They do not know the next steps of where they will go, so hopefully, we can be of assistance,” he said of the affected residents.

Fav Robertson, who was also at the event, said she came to bring food to the displaced people as she understands their situation. “Whoever I can give something to, I just give it to them,” Robertson said. She also said that the church is going to keep praying for everybody as it could have been anybody in that situation.

Pastor Walker stated that his church will continue to render help to the displaced residents in any way they can. He also said that the church will receive donations from anybody who would like to assist the affected people on Monday, Oct. 4. In his words, “Starting Monday, between 9-5, our doors will be open to receive donations from anybody who would love to drop off clothes and shoes for adults and children, as well as diapers.”
