Texas businesses are stepping up to aid communities devastated by recent floods in the Hill Country, with Whataburger and McDonald’s leading efforts to provide relief and support recovery.
Whataburger, a GO TEXAN Champion Sponsor with the Texas Department of Agriculture, has been praised for its swift response to the crisis.
“I want to thank Whataburger for stepping up in a big way to support Texans in their time of need,” Sid Miller, Texas Agriculture Commissioner, said in a press release. “When historic floods hit the Hill Country, Whataburger didn’t hesitate. They hit the ground running in Kerrville, providing hot meals to our first responders, emergency crews, and volunteers.”
In addition to serving meals, Whataburger is donating $100,000 to local relief organizations and contributing 100% of proceeds from collectible cup sales from July 9 to 31 to flood recovery efforts.
“Our hearts are with everyone affected by the Kerrville flooding. The loss is deeply felt, but so is our gratitude for the first responders, volunteers, and neighbors showing extraordinary strength and compassion,” Debbie Stroud, CEO of Whataburger, said on the company’s webpage. “At Whataburger, we stand with you—and we invite our guests to stand with us and the people of Texas Hill Country. Every cup purchased, every dollar raised helps bring hope and healing to the families and communities who need it most.”
“That’s not just good business, that’s being a good neighbor,” Miller stated. “During tough times, it’s people like Whataburger who remind us of what it means to be Texan.”

Meanwhile, McDonald’s owner/operators across North, South, and Central Texas are hosting a “Texas Together” fundraiser on July 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A portion of sales from participating locations will be donated to the Salvation Army to support its emergency disaster services, including food, shelter, and other essential items for flood-affected residents.
“We are deeply saddened by the destruction caused by the recent floods in our state,” David Floyd, President of the McDonald’s of North Texas Co-op, said in a press release. “As local business owners, we feel a strong responsibility to support our neighbors in times of crisis.”
The Salvation Army will utilize the funds to provide direct assistance to families and communities affected by the floods. Customers can contribute by dining at participating McDonald’s locations during the fundraiser.
