The Bishop Arts District recently welcomed The Gaming Goat, a store specializing in the latest and greatest board, card and tabletop games.

The store has been open since June 12 and touts itself as the largest tabletop gaming retail chain in the United States on its Facebook page.

“Love the new board game store in Bishop Arts, The Gaming Goat,” Mayor Pro Tem Chad West wrote in a July 1 Twitter post. “They have games for adults and kids as young as three, 20% off Amazon prices. Thank you to Stephen for the excellent service and product knowledge!”

Owner and proprietor Stephen Callaghan said he opened the business for what he says is an under-served demographic of board-gamers.

“There are board game shops, but they tend to be out of the city center and have more of a backroom feel to them,” Callaghan said, according to Advocate Oak Cliff.

The store is 600 square feet and boasts a “front-row” boutique presence.

The Gaming Goat is located at 336 W. Davis and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
