Walmart has expanded its drone operations to include the City of Lewisville, promising product delivery to patrons in 30 minutes or less.

Drone company Wing, which has partnered with Walmart, announced that the Walmart Supercenter located at 801 W. Main St. in Lewisville has joined the list of locations offering drone delivery services.

“We’re working with Walmart to offer everything from full lunches to missing ingredients or over-the-counter medicines, and the service is available 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily to customers within a 6-mile radius of the Frisco and Lewisville Supercenters,” said the company in a press release.

In August, the Walmart Supercenter in Frisco, located at 8555 Preston Rd., began offering drone delivery from Wing, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

By the middle of the afternoon on December 18, over 20 Walmart customers had used the new service, according to CBS Texas.

“We’re really excited about what it’s going to bring to the community,” said Ashley Struchtemeyer, Walmart store manager at the Lewisville location, per CBS.

“We already do a lot. We do express delivery, in home, so this will be just great for those customers who forgot one or two items – it gets there in less than 30 minutes – so I’m just hoping it has a positive impact on the community.”

Nicole Schone, the marketing and communications leader at Wing, offered assurance that customers getting fragile items delivered such as eggs will have these items delivered safely.

Wing intends to expand its services to additional locations in the DFW metroplex. However, those locations have not been indicated at this time.

Drone use has been continually expanding across North Texas with both corporate entities and even emergency services and police finding uses for the aircraft.
