Texas Instruments plans to spend an estimated $119 million to renovate its headquarters in Dallas.

According to a state filing, the project near I-635 and U.S. 75 spans more than 500,000 square feet at the Kilby West building. Construction is scheduled to begin in July, and the anticipated delivery date is January 1, 2027.

A company spokesperson did not return a message seeking comment about the project. But a Texas Instruments official told The Dallas Morning News that the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing was made by a third party and that no decision has been made regarding the project.

The semiconductor manufacturer and Sherman-based GlobiTech secured almost $3 billion in tax incentives last year. The latter, a subsidiary of the Taiwanese company GlobalWafers, is building a semiconductor plant in Sherman that is expected to employ about 1,500 workers. Texas Instruments, meanwhile, has begun production at its Richardson facility, according to DMN.

Founded in 1930, Texas Instruments employs about 34,000 people and manufactures tens of billions of chips each year. This month, the company announced it had developed a new plastic packaging standard for space electronics.

The Qualified Manufacturers List Class P “packaging standard enables more advanced computing in space, such as how satellites and other spacecraft can autonomously process data and make decisions in orbit as opposed to beaming data back down to Earth,” said Javier Valle, product line manager for space power, per the announcement. “More processing capability also requires greater power. With TI’s QML Class P portfolio, we increase the efficiency of the power supply while reducing the size of the overall package, resulting in much higher power density.”

The QML Class P certified portfolio impacts the entire electrical power system of spacecraft, according to the company.
