Stanley product manufacturers have acknowledged the use of lead in making its products. This admission comes as the Stanley Cup grows in popularity.

Stanley has been around for over 100 years. However, the company has seen its products surge in popularity in recent years, spurred partly by social media. The company saw an increase of $676 million in revenue between 2019 and 2023, along with an increase in price for the products from $45 to $55, according to Time.

The company has, however, acknowledged that lead is used when making these products, adding, “Rest assured that no lead is present on the surface of any Stanley product that comes into contact with the consumer nor the contents of the product,” per its support website.

“At Stanley, one of the key features of our products is our vacuum insulation technology, which provides consumers with drinkware that keeps beverages at the ideal temperature. Our manufacturing process currently employs the use of an industry standard pellet to seal the vacuum insulation at the base of our products; the sealing material includes some lead,” Stanley, when answering whether its Quencher H2.0 Flowstate tumblers have lead on its website.”Once sealed, this area is covered with a durable stainless steel layer, making it inaccessible to consumers.”

The company is searching for alternative materials for sealing purposes, according to Today.

Lead has also recently been found in other products, particularly in children’s snack foods. Food and Drug Administration officials believed that lead contaminations observed in children’s applesauce snack foods last year had been created deliberately, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
