California shoe brand Rothy’s plans to open its second Texas store next year at NorthPark Center, according to a state filing.
The company is scheduled to begin demolition in May of a 1,162-square-foot space on the first floor of the Dallas mall. With an anticipated construction cost of $300,000, the project is expected to be completed in August.
Rothy’s has sold one of its product lines at Neighborhood Goods at Legacy West since signing a six-month deal with the Dallas-based department store in May 2019. The company received a marketing boost when Meghan Markle wore a pair of Rothy’s shoes during a trip to Australia, according to The Dallas Morning News.
Founded in San Francisco in 2012, Rothy’s manufactures machine-washable shoes for men, women, and children using 3D knitting technology and handcrafted assembly, as well as bags and accessories for women and men.
“At Rothy’s, we know there’s a better way to do business, and it starts by putting the planet and its people first. That’s why we transform eco-friendly materials into wardrobe staples that look just as good as they feel,” reads the company’s website.
The company operates 17 stores across the U.S. and, along with the Dallas location, plans to open a store in Arlington, West Virginia. Its other Texas store is in Austin.
Rothy’s is among several retailers, including French luxury retailer Givenchy and Southern California lifestyle brand TravisMathew, aiming to open at NorthPark Center next year. The Dallas Morning News reported in October that Tiffany & Co. is opening a new concept store at the mall next year, along with Prada and restaurant chain Joey.
Opened in 1965 and expanded more than 41 years later, NorthPark Center is home to about 200 stores.
