Continental, founded in Germany in 1871, has contracted Dallas-based design firm GSR Andrade Architects to build a new tire facility in southern Fort Worth.
According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation’s public records, the project, referred to as “Hillwood – Project Road Trip,” is located at 10101 Old Burleson Road, Fort Worth, TX 76140, in Tarrant County, and is scheduled to be completed by January 20, 2026.
The new construction is expected to cost around $69 million, covering roughly 752,000 square feet tailored for the facility and around 7,500 square feet of support offices.
Continental ranks “among the top five automotive suppliers worldwide, with divisions specializing in brake systems; instrumentation; systems and components for chassis; vehicle electronics; infotainment solutions; and technical elastomers,” per the company’s website.
Continental’s Road Hazard Coverage is distinct within the industry. It applies to all Continental passenger and light truck tires bought as replacements and guarantees a comparable replacement tire within the initial 12 months.
Additionally, Continental is “one of the world’s largest passenger tire manufacturers in the original equipment and replacement market. Worldwide, the corporation has more than 190,000 employees in 58 countries and 554 locations.”
Continental has been in the tire production industry for more than 150 years. The company’s extensive tire range caters to diverse needs like racing and cycling. Continental has a multitude of “firsts” and bragging rights, including having the “world’s fastest road-legal tire.”
In recent years, Continental Tire has emerged as a presence in Dallas-Fort Worth. The German auto part manufacturer expanded its North Texas distribution center in Grand Prairie in 2017, according to The Dallas Business Journal.
