A Marriott hotel in Dallas will debut three new restaurants and an award-winning chef when it opens later this year.

The JW Marriott Dallas Arts District is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2023 and will be located at 800 North Harwood Street.

The lavish hotel will feature three in-house food and beverage options, including Margaret’s, an artisanal restaurant dedicated to local farm-to-table cuisine; Vincent’s, an outdoor lounge on the eleventh floor; and 800 North, a coffee-to-cocktail concept located in the hotel’s lobby.

Jonah Friedmann, an award-winning chef from Chicago with more than a decade of experience, was appointed as the hotel’s executive chef, according to a February 24 news statement from JW Marriott. Friedmann has an extensive and tenured background, having worked in a variety of hotels and trained at the Culinary Institute of America and Johnson & Wales.

“I’m excited to make the transition to Margaret’s and bring my farm-to-table style to a new venue,” said Friedmann in the news statement. “Working with the JW Marriott brand and its commitment to whole body wellness aligns with my style as a chef and I can’t wait to get started,” he said.

Although Friedmann hasn’t finalized the restaurant’s menu yet, he says it will carry a classic Texas blend.

“My vision for Margaret’s menu includes modern takes on Texas favorites with a focus on experience and seasonal ingredients that make Texas cuisine unique,” Friedmann said in the news statement.

Plano-based commercial real estate developer Sam Moon Group (SMG) is developing the luxury hotel. Even though the hotel’s completion is right around the corner, the plans underwent several revisions before the development team landed on the perfect layout, according to John Klukan, director of sales and marketing at SMG.

“The design of the hotel has evolved, and changes have been made to the original plans in order to enhance the guest experience and deliver a luxury destination to the city,” said John Klukan, director of sales and marketing at SMG, as reported by CultureMap Dallas.

“One of the changes involved the hotel’s entrance which was shifted from Ross Avenue to North Harwood Street for ease of access to valet parking, resulting in the hotel’s confirmed address to be 800 N. Harwood Street, and the name of the street-level bar and lounge, 800 North,” Klukan explained, according to CultureMap Dallas.

When the JW Marriott Dallas Arts District is completed this spring, it will feature 267 rooms across 23 floors, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a rooftop pool, and more than 20,000 square feet of event space.
