The beverage and snack-focused CosMc’s chain is set to close up shop, including the remaining locations in Dallas.
The McDonald’s spinoff pilot, which sold a variety of hot and cold beverages, snacks, and desserts, is officially shuttering. That means the two remaining DFW locations, 861 W. Stacy Rd. in Allen and 5341 McPherson Blvd. in Fort Worth, will soon close their doors.
On May 23, McDonald’s announced it would bring CosMc’s-inspired beverages to hundreds of McDonald’s locations in the country as part of a new trial. However, the announcement also mentioned that the stand-alone CosMc’s location pilot would be ending.
“What started as a belief that McDonald’s had the right to win in the fast-growing beverage space quickly came to life as a multi-location, small format, beverage-focused concept. It allowed us to test new, bold flavors and different technologies and processes – without impacting the existing McDonald’s experience for customers and crew,” said the press release.
“We’ve learned so much, so quickly from the CosMc’s test. As part of this next testing phase, starting in late June, we will be closing all stand-alone pilot CosMc’s locations on a rolling basis and discontinuing the CosMc’s app.”
North Texas was a significant market for the CosMc’s trial run, but the test was short-lived. Earlier this year, The Dallas Express reported that two regional locations were set to close despite being less than 12 months old.
When we reported on the closures in January, the Allen location had not even opened yet. Now, it, along with the Fort Worth CosMcs, is set to leave the city.
“The main goal of the CosMc’s test was to create a launchpad for learning for the McDonald’s System– and the insights we’ve gathered have given us a whole new way to get closer to our fans… We cannot wait to share more about our beverage developments and tests in the future. Stay tuned as we continue to explore new horizons and bring fresh, exciting flavors to our fans!” said the fast food giant.
