Ride-sharing company Lyft is doing its part to lessen holiday stress by introducing new features, such as offering credits to customers not picked up on time. 

Lyft announced its new “on-time pickup promise” service, which enables customers to schedule their rides up to 30 days in advance, with a fixed time and price. The company has pledged to compensate customers if their requests are not fulfilled on time, according to the press release issued by Lyft. 

“Every minute counts when you’re on the way to the airport,” said David Risher, CEO of Lyft, per the press release. 

“We’re so confident that we can get you there on time that if we’re more than ten minutes late for your scheduled pick-up, we’ll give you up to $100 in Lyft credits to make up for it – even if you take a taxi or an Ub*r.”

The new feature promises $20 in Lyft Cash if a driver is over 10 minutes late and $50 in Lyft Cash automatically if a customer is not matched with a driver 10 minutes after the scheduled time. Scheduled riders can earn up to another $100 in Lyft Cash if they have to use another ridesharing or taxi service to get to the airport. 

The ride-sharing company also announced its Extra Comfort mode, which allows patrons to request a quiet ride to their destination, help with their luggage, and more spacious vehicles driven by the company’s top-rated drivers, according to the press release.

Jody Kelman, executive vice president of customers at Lyft, also highlighted the recently launched feature “Women+ Connect,” which enables “women and non-binary drivers in select cities to increase their chances of matching with more women and nonbinary riders.” 

“Women carry a disproportionate amount of holiday stress, taking on the mental load of planning celebrations, travel, and all the logistics that come with it,” said Kelman. 

“Our goal is to make getting where you’re going easier and less stressful. Whether you’re getting the family to the airport or coming home from a late-night holiday party, Lyft is making life easier and stress-free.”
