Cross-brand collaborations help companies maximize and capitalize on one another’s audiences, especially if their audiences typically would not intersect. Such is the case for the new professional partnership between the NBA and French luxury powerhouse Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH).

The NBA and Louis Vuitton announced a multi-year partnership that has been in talks since 2020. This second collaboration between two long-established brands includes Louis-Vuitton’s design of the NBA’s official Trophy Travel Case.

LVMH is known for designing ultra-luxury trunks and cases. Nevertheless, renewing its partnership with the premiere professional sports league helps the brand retain its relevance with sports fans.

The first official championship trophy travel case created for the NBA is emblazoned with the iconic LV monogram on the outside. The front features a large, white “V” for both Vuitton and “Victory.” The bright blue interior lining will include the official NBA logo.

“The NBA Finals is defined by iconic players and memorable performances, culminating with the presentation of The Larry O’Brien Trophy,” Deputy Commissioner and COO of the NBA Mark Tatum said. “Louis Vuitton creates a natural synergy with the NBA, and this partnership provides a unique and befitting way to showcase our championship trophy to our fans around the world.”

CEO and Chairman of Louis Vuitton Michael Burke said of the collaboration, “Louis Vuitton and the NBA are both icons and leaders in their respective fields, and the joining of the two promises exciting and surprising moments, forging historic memories together.”

“Louis Vuitton has long been associated with the world’s most coveted trophies, and with this iconic partnership the legacy continues—victory does indeed travel in Louis Vuitton!” Burke added.

In addition to creating the trophy travel case for the NBA, the LVMH + NBA partnership will include an exclusive line of NBA sportswear for men. The collection offers everything from letterman jackets and basketball shorts to luxury gym bags, all designed with “’90s court-side mania through the Maison’s high-fashion lens.”

LVMH has also designed messenger bags for both men and women and a $10,000 plexiglass LV logo basketball hoop. Fans can purchase LVMH x NBA collection pieces on the Louis Vuitton site.
