Americans are feeling the pain at the pump as the national average for a gallon of regular gas is $4.08 for the week of April 11. To help ease the stress, Krispy Kreme is offering “Donut Deflation,” where donut lovers can get a dozen of Krispy Kreme’s famous original glazed donuts for the same price as a gallon of gas.

Customers can take advantage of “Donut Deflation” every Wednesday through May 4. Prices for gas and donuts change every Monday, and customers can visit Krispy Kreme in-store, at the drive-thru, on the Krispy Kreme app, or online on Wednesdays to see the new price take advantage of the sweet deal. The promotion is limited to two dozen per person.

“While Americans deal with the rising PPG – price per gallon – of gasoline, we’re lowering our PPOG – price per Original Glaze,” Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement. “Inflation and high gasoline prices are serious and forcing families to make tough tradeoffs. A dozen Original Glazed Doughnuts for the price of a gallon of gas will help our fans make midweek a little sweeter for their friends and family.”

While Krispy Kreme is tapping into its “strategic doughnut reserve,” they hope fans of the “hot light” will take advantage of the special and share the treats with friends and family.

For April 13, the price is $4.11, and the price will be “based on the national average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in the United States on the Monday at the beginning of the week,” the company said. Krispy Kreme will alert fans of the price by posting it on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and on the company’s website.

According to CNBC, retailers will find out if their perks and incentives have paid off when the Commerce Department reports March’s retail sale numbers on Thursday, April 14.
