As more families need rental assistance, Interfaith Family Services has answered the call.
The Interfaith Rental Assistance has expanded to provide financial assistance to families who owe past-due rent as well as their monthly rent for a period of three to six months.
The program pays the rent for individuals who qualify while completing career training and financial coaching offered by Interfaith.
Once clients finish the training, Interfaith offers job placement assistance and childcare while parents search for a job.
Interfaith Family Services strives to “break the cycle by providing working families with the tools to eliminate barriers, equip them to overcome poverty, educate children with skills to successfully pursue dreams and overall empower families to live self-sufficient lives.”
Keeping its doors open during the pandemic, Interfaith Family Services is located at 1651 Matilda Street, giving families one location for all Interfaith programs from career training, to job placement, to childcare.
According to Interfaith, Dallasites who finish the program see long-term benefits. Eighty-eight percent of clients are employed when they complete the program with an average wage increase of more than $10,000 a year. Other stats show they will remain employed for longer than a year at their new job. Additionally, clients have safety-net savings averaging $1,418.
