H-E-B has announced the grand opening of its much-anticipated Plano store is right around the corner.
H-E-B in Plano is officially set to open its doors to customers starting on Wednesday, November 2, at 6 a.m. The grand opening of H-E-B’s newest flagship store, located off Preston Road and Spring Creek Parkway, has been highly anticipated by customers eager for its arrival.
The popular San Antonio-based grocer made the announcement on Monday, with the added news that customers can begin scheduling curbside orders two days before the store’s grand opening.
The Plano store will be H-E-B’s second location to open in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The first, H-E-B’s Frisco store, was met with an overwhelmingly positive response, with shoppers waiting in line for hours to enter.
Similar to the Frisco location, H-E-B’s 118,000-square-foot Plano store will contain numerous Texas-themed products for shoppers in its home decor and essentials department. The store will also feature a True Texas BBQ restaurant with an attached drive-through for easy convenience.
Earlier this summer, the company confirmed that it had purchased land in Prosper and Rockwall with the intention of constructing future H-E-B stores. Other planned locations include the Allen and McKinney stores, currently under construction, and future stores in Forney, Mansfield, and Melissa.
H-E-B’s expansion into North Texas comes as antitrust concerns swirl around the recently proposed merger between major grocery retailers Kroger and Albertsons and what federal regulators say a union of the two could do to monopolize food prices.
Future H-E-B locations set to open include:
- Allen – E. Exchange Parkway and N. Greenville Avenue (expected to open late 2023).
- McKinney – northeast corner of Custer Road and Eldorado Parkway (expected to open late 2023).
- Mansfield – corner of U.S. 287 and East Broad Street (groundbreaking is expected in early 2023).
