Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Monday that he proclaimed this week Economic Development Week in Texas.
Abbott wrote in a news release about this proclamation that Texas wants to recognize and honor the local, regional, and statewide economic development organizations that help grow the Lone Star State’s success.
“In Texas, every ribbon-cutting, groundbreaking, and economic milestone represents the promise of opportunity, and recent years have brought extraordinary achievements in this realm. This success is the work of many, and throughout the state, everyday Texans—be they economic development professionals, business owners, educators, or volunteers—work tirelessly to bring new employers, industries, and jobs to the Lone Star State,” wrote the governor in the proclamation.
Abbott stated that “Texas is where the future is building,” and every worker in the state should receive credit for this honor.
“The key to Texas’ unrivaled success in economic development is teamwork. It takes a collaborative effort from organizations across the state to attract new businesses, investments, and jobs, as well as help existing Texas companies grow. By working together with all of our economic development partners across the state, we will build a stronger, more prosperous Texas for generations.”
This economic recognition comes shortly after Texas was awarded the 2025 Prosperity Cup, which Site Selection magazine presents to the state that is best suited for attracting new businesses, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
Texas has also won Site Selection’s Governor’s Cup for being the best at attracting the most new and expanded business facility projects. The magazine also ranked Texas as the top business climate in the U.S.
Although Abbott is celebrating the economic success of most of the Lone Star State, not every business in North Texas has performed well in recent months.
