Elon Musk denied allegations that he uses hard drugs, an issue that has reportedly caused concern among high-level company executives and, if true, could be a possible violation of government contracts.

The Wall Street Journal published a report recently that alleged the Tesla and SpaceX CEO uses LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms. The outlet reported that this alleged drug use has led to erratic behavior from Musk that concerned executives, however, the article does not mention the names of those who purportedly expressed such concerns.

Musk responded to the story in a series of posts on his social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Lol,” he tweeted. “TMZ has vastly higher standards than the WSJ (actually).”

He wrote that he agreed to random drug tests after he smoked marijuana on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast in 2018.

“After that one puff with Rogan, I agreed, at NASA’s request, to do 3 years of random drug testing,” he posted. “Not even trace quantities were found of any drugs or alcohol. @WSJ is not fit to line a parrot cage for bird [poop emoji].”

Alex Spiro, Musk’s attorney, said that the businessman is “regularly and randomly drug tested at SpaceX and has never failed a test.” He claimed “there are other false facts” in the article.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Musk used hard drugs at parties around the world. The outlet cited “people who have witnessed his drug use and others with knowledge of it.”

Musk previously stated he has a prescription for ketamine.

The Wall Street Journal reported that this alleged drug use from Musk could pose a risk to SpaceX’s government contracts due to federal policies on substance usage. The company has reportedly boosted its relations with the Pentagon in recent years.
