IKEA is finally coming to Dallas, with the budget-friendly home decor giant announcing its latest North Texas expansion.
Last year, the Swedish retailer announced plans to build a new store in Rockwall. Now, IKEA plans to increase its footprint in North Texas with a store planned at The Shops at Park Lane in University Park.
IKEA said the new location will be a version of its new small-format store. This means that while customers can purchase a large selection of the retailer’s items in person, many items will need to be ordered.
“IKEA is on a journey in the U.S. to become more accessible, affordable and convenient for the many. This new 63,000 square foot small-format store offers a new way of reaching customers both in-store and digitally, with 3,200 articles available for takeaway including food too! Although the entire range will not be available for immediate takeaway, it can be ordered online, with options for free store pick-up or home delivery at a minimal fee,” read a description of the forthcoming two-level location.
IKEA U.S.’s CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer, Javier Quiñones, said the new Dallas store will help make the retailer’s popular items more accessible.
“At IKEA, we want to create a better everyday life for the many people and one way we can do that is by bringing IKEA close to where people live, work, socialize and shop. That’s why we’re enhancing our store formats for greater convenience, making delivery more affordable, and ensuring better connectivity with our customers in their daily lives,” he explained.
Once the new Dallas store is up and running, along with other pending projects in the state, IKEA will have 11 locations in Texas, including the Rockwall store, which is expected to open in December.
“I am excited to announce the future opening of IKEA Dallas – University Park,” said Market Manager IKEA U.S. Ben Sandoval.
“Our biggest competitive advantage are our IKEA stores. This is where everything comes together under one roof and where visitors can experience our brand, our solutions, and our amazing co-workers,” said Sandoval.
