Metz’s appointment becomes effective in February. He will lead business activities in Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Louisiana, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and eight other states. Southern Glazer’s Texas offices are in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Farmers Branch.

Metz began his 31-year career in the alcohol industry in 1992 as a sales representative at Jim Beam in Michigan. He spent the next two decades at Jim Beam Brand Company — now Beam Suntory — in sales and strategy roles, with his last position being general sales manager of the American region and Mexico. Metz joined Glazer’s as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Texas in 2013. Most recently, Metz served as Glazer’s executive vice president and general manager for Texas.

The company said in the release that Metz’s successor in Texas will be announced before February.

Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits operates in 44 states, the District of Columbia and Canada, and brokerage operations through its WEBB Banks division in the Caribbean, South America, and Central America.
