Texas-based Buc-ee’s is reportedly considering adding a new state for its next location.

Buc-ee’s has submitted a proposal to the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas, for the opening of a new site, according to Flatland, a non-profit Kansas City news source.

The proposal includes a map of the potential layout, design, and other preliminary plans for the site near the northeast corner of 110th Street and Interstate 70.

If approved, the massive gas station-convenience store would sit near the Kansas Speedway, Hollywood Casino, Bass Pro Shops, a future Margaritaville Hotel, and a proposed Mattel-themed amusement park.

Unified Government planning staffers will decide if there is adequate public infrastructure available for the proposed site before the project goes before the city’s planning commission on June 10, reported Dallas Business Journal.

The iconic southern chain currently has nearly 50 locations spread across Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Colorado, and Missouri. Texas is home to the most stores, hosting 35 locations around the state.

The “always open” store boasts two world records. It currently owns the world’s largest convenience store in Sevierville, Tennessee, at 74,707 square feet. Additionally, it owns the world’s longest car wash in Katy, Texas, with 255 feet of conveyor.

In 2022, Buc-ee’s announced the expansion of a Fort Worth location with a new 5,647 square-foot car wash which was supposed to be finished by August 2023. Despite delays, the project appears to be back on track, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

The company prides itself on having the “world’s cleanest restrooms,” alongside several different fuel types and charging stations for electric vehicles.

The average Buc-ee’s is said to have about 250 employees. Store general managers are able to earn over six figures.

The company has amassed a devoted following of enthusiasts who travel far and wide to see the beloved beaver logo for themselves.

Buc-ee’s has declined to comment on its plans for the Kansas City location, reported Flatland.
