Buc-ee’s has announced that they will be breaking ground in Hillsboro for their seventh North Texas location.

Speculation about this location began in April 2022 after the convenience store and gas station chain purchased the land in Hillsboro.

The newest travel center will be located at 165 State Highway 77 and the groundbreaking ceremony will take place on January 24 at 1 p.m. Local leaders will attend the ceremony, including Hillsboro Mayor Andrew Smith, Hill City Council Judge Justin Lewis, and other members of the Hillsboro City Council.

“Hillsboro is one of the best forks in the road we’ve ever seen, and they have a beautiful, historic courthouse as a bonus!” said Stan Beard of Buc-ee’s. “Whether you’re headed to Fort Worth and West Texas or Dallas and East Texas, you can make Buc-ee’s your stop, coming and going. The City of Hillsboro and Hill County have been such great partners, and we look forward to being a great neighbor for years to come.”

Similar to other Buc-ee’s travel centers, the Hillsboro location will be 74,000 square feet and feature 120 gas pumps. The travel center will feature many of Buc-ee’s staples, such as Beaver Nuggets, Texas barbecue, beef jerky, and more.

The Buc-ee’s Hillsboro location will also provide over 200 jobs to the area. Starting pay for these jobs will be well-above minimum wage, with full benefits, a 6% matching 401K, and three weeks of paid vacation.

The Hillsboro travel center has a planned opening in the summer of 2024.

Beginning in 1982, Buc-ee’s has become a part of Texas history. It currently operates a total of 34 locations across Texas, with an additional 10 being located throughout Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, and South Carolina.

Buc-ee’s will also be renovating a location in Luling, which is about 50 miles outside of Austin. The Luling location will replace an older Buc-ee’s that had been around since 2003. This new travel center broke ground in November 2022 and will be the largest Buc-ee’s in the United States once it is officially reopened in 2023.
