A British-inspired pub called the Brewer’s Arm is set to open in Dallas. The pub will open where the Tipperary Inn once called home in the Lakewood neighborhood.

Brewer’s Arm is a creation from restaurateur Ernest Belmore, who is the owner behind Buzzbrews Kitchen, and Bob Suffolk, the frontman of the British band Fabulous Poodles.

Belmore, who spoke with CultureMap Dallas, hopes the new location will give patrons a place to grab a drink, enjoy great food, and relax inside an old English-inspired-looking pub.

“We’d been doing live music with our classical open mic nights at the Lakewood Buzzbrews for 11 years, and some of the musicians requested a better stage,” Belmore shared with CultureMap Dallas. “They’re all real musicians, and I wanted to step up what we had.”

“We [Belmore and Suffolk] started out just doing a stage on a shoestring budget,” Belmore says. “But as we worked together, given his background, things began to evolve towards the idea of a British-style pub, and now here we are.”

Brewer’s Arm is looking to open sometime in November and will offer patrons a real taste of English pub food and drinks, from breakfast to bangers and mash, fish & chips to ales, and of course a selection of whiskey.

Belmore hopes the Brewer’s Arm will balance out the Lakewood area with a string of excellent bars but is lacking when it comes to a genuine pub with dark wood, ambient lighting, great food, and drink.

“The area has great bars like Cosmo’s and Lakewood Landing and Cock & Bull, but it used to have a pub in the location that people still ask about,” Belmore shared. “I felt like it was a void, and it gave me inspiration, it made me feel like I’m giving back again.”
