Toys R Us will open its first airport store at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), its parent company announced Tuesday.

WHP Global, which acquired Toys R Us in 2021, said the store will be about 500 square feet and open before Christmas. It will be located in Terminal A at DFW, the nation’s second-busiest airport.

A press release said the store would include a life-size 3D sculpture of Geoffrey the Giraffe, the store’s mascot, and a special selection of toys and games from popular brands.

The company said it would partner with Duty Free Americas, which operates in airports, seaports, and border crossings, on the project.

“It’s an exciting new concept that we believe could roll out in airports around the world,” Yehuda Shmidman, chairman and CEO of WHP Global, said in a statement.

Toys R Us generates about $2 billion in sales worldwide, recently increasing its visibility with a toy section in all Macy’s stores.

“We are excited that WHP Global selected us to introduce a new retail concept to the travel industry,” said Jerome Falic, CEO of Duty Free Americas, said in a statement. “Toys R Us is a globally recognized brand beloved by millions of families, and we are confident that the store at DFW will become a must-visit destination for travelers.”
