Dominion Voting Systems and Fox News settled their defamation case Tuesday for $787.5 million, both parties announced.
A jury was seated Tuesday morning in a Wilmington, Delaware, court and awaiting opening arguments in the lawsuit before the media company agreed to settlement terms.
“The parties have resolved their case,” Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis said to the jury. “That your service is done, and I’m going to excuse you. Sorry about making you wait.”
The judge also thanked both parties for making a deal and forgoing the battle in court
The settlement ends the first round of legal action against Fox.
The voting machine maker claimed Fox defamed it with reporting and commentary on election theories after the 2020 presidential election.
