Bass Pro Shops is set to build one of its landmark stores in Grand Prairie, marking the outdoor retailer’s fifth location in the region and its 15th in Texas.

In September, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s announced plans to build a new 100,000-square-foot store facility in Grand Prairie. Last week, The Dallas Express reached out to Bass Pro Shops to check in on the planned facility and to see how construction was moving along.

Although Bass Pro has yet to break ground on the new store, a spokesperson for the company told The Dallas Express the project was still in its early phases and that the company was excited to connect community members in the central portion of the metroplex with the company’s world-class outdoor opportunities.

“We are thrilled to be part of this new development in Grand Prairie and are looking forward to opening our fifth location in the DFW area to better serve our customers,” Bass Pro wrote in an email to The Dallas Express. “At this time, we are in the early stages of site work and construction. We will provide further updates as development progresses,” the company said.

Currently, the store’s opening is planned for Spring 2024.

Like all Bass Pro Shops stores, the Grand Prairie facility is being built with a unique interior and exterior design that carries the brand’s signature visual appeal as well as pays tribute to “the great sporting heritage of the region” and the “sportsmen and women of Texas,” the company said.

The new location will carry Bass Pro Shops’ comprehensive selection of outdoor gear, including fishing, hunting, boating, and outdoor sporting goods.

In addition, the new store will also offer Bass Pro Shops’ premiere shopping experience, which fuses “retail entertainment, outdoor education, and conservation” into an attractive blend for all outdoor enthusiasts, whether it’s hiking, backpacking, wildlife viewing, camping, or one of the many other outdoor activities available in Texas.

“We’re excited to expand our ability to serve these customers while showcasing our iconic outdoor brands,” Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris said in the news statement. “We are very excited to open another location in the great state of Texas, where we have come to know incredibly passionate sportsmen and women who love the outdoors as much as we do.”

Grand Prairie is not the only area in Texas set to get a new Bass Pro Shops store. On February 14, the Springfield, Missouri-based retailer announced plans to build a new superstore in Spring, Texas. Upon completion, the new 125,000-square-foot store, which would service the greater Houston market, would mark the 16th Bass Pro Shops store in Texas.
