A massive new project from an experienced building developer is coming to Southern Dallas County. The commercial real estate firm Bandera Ventures, which has developed several large business parks in South Fort Worth and the DFW Airport area, is now expanding its horizons into Wilmer with its largest project yet.

The Southport Logistics development will feature two warehouse and distribution buildings totaling nearly 1.5 million square feet of space and costing more than $76 million. GSR Andrade Architects designed the complex.

According to the documents filed with the state, construction on the project, located at Southport Parkway and East Pleasant Run Road, will begin before the end of the first quarter and will be completed next year.

Bandera Ventures was founded in 2003 by Charles Anderson, Pryor Blackwell, and Thomas Leiser. Based in Dallas, the company’s goal is to responsibly develop, acquire, own, and operate commercial real estate. Anderson, Blackwell, Lesier, and CFO Carol Kreditor have all worked together for over thirty-four years.

Earlier this year, the company sold its Everman Crossroads location, which was a two-building, 954,610 square foot industrial distribution center in Fort Worth.

In 2021, the DFW area was the country’s top industrial building market, with more than 50 million square feet of projects under construction, according to data from Dodge Data and Analytics.

More than $16.5 million worth of warehouse projects were under construction in southern Dallas County at the end of last year.
