Black Rock Coffee Bar kicked off its grand opening in McKinney last Friday, making it the seventh store to open in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
“Our expansion into the Metroplex was fueled by the vibrant community found here,” Bobby Kaufman, vice president of development, told The Dallas Express in an emailed response to questions about the recent opening.
“The welcoming business environment, coupled with the area’s appreciation for quality coffee and community connections, which resonated with Black Rock’s ethos, [led to the expansion]. We’re excited to offer a new gathering spot for locals to enjoy premium coffee while fostering local relationships,” Kaufman added.
The boutique coffee chain will offer $2 medium drinks all day at the store in honor of its opening at the new 2,000-square-foot building at 5101 McKinney Ranch Parkway.
The concept was originally founded in Oregon. It is known for its roasted coffees, teas, smoothies, and flavorful Fuel Energy drinks, according to a news release.
The latest store has incorporated Black Rock’s modern design ethos, coupled with local flair that includes a large Texas-themed mural connected.
Black Rock’s menu has classic brewed items such as drip coffee, Americano, latte/cappuccino, and mocha, as well as chillers caramel blondie, caramel truffle, mint chip, Oreo, chai chiller, chocolate chip, smoothies, and matcha. Among the non-coffee products are teas and Italian soda. For the kids, it offers warm cocoa, smoothies, shakes, and juice.
It is open daily from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the company’s website.
The McKinney store is the company’s 29th to open in Texas. Other stores in North Texas are located in Dallas, Plano, and Arlington. It also has stores in Colorado, California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
In 2021, Black Rock was named the fastest-growing private company in Oregon and southwest Washington by the Portland Business Journal. This year, Black Rock ranked 1,179th among America’s fastest-growing private companies by Inc. Magazine’s 5000 annual list.
