American Airlines will begin serving Texas barbecue on select first-class flights starting in February, partnering with Dallas-based Pecan Lodge as part of the airline’s 2026 centennial celebration.
The new in-flight meal option will be available to first-class passengers flying from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport, two of American’s busiest transcontinental routes.
Passengers can preorder the meals through American’s website or mobile app, according to the airline. The menu is expected to feature Pecan Lodge staples, including brisket, sausage, and traditional Texas sides.
American executives said the partnership is intended to highlight regional flavors from the airline’s home state while elevating the premium in-flight dining experience.
“As we celebrate American’s centennial anniversary in 2026, we’re looking forward to delighting our customers in new ways that honor unique regional tastes, beginning right here in our home state through one of the most beloved barbecue restaurants in Texas,” said Rhonda Crawford, American’s senior vice president of customer experience design and strategy.
Pecan Lodge, founded in Dallas and widely recognized for its Central Texas–style barbecue, has gained national attention over the past decade for its slow-smoked meats and traditional preparation methods.
The collaboration reflects a broader trend among major airlines seeking to differentiate premium cabins through branded food partnerships, particularly on longer domestic routes where meal quality has become a key factor for frequent flyers.
