Southwest Airlines is offering a free limited-time Companion Pass, but customers must act fast if they want to claim the promotion.
The Southwest Airlines Companion Pass promotion is good till early 2023. It will give select customers the chance to travel “with your favorite plus one whenever you fly,” according to the company.
The only catch is that customers have until September 8 to qualify for the promotion.
To be eligible for the limited-time promotion, travelers must first be part of Southwest’s frequent flier Rapid Rewards program. However, flights purchased using Rapid Rewards points are ineligible for the promotion.
Qualified Southwest members must register online and purchase one round trip or two one-way flights between September 6 and September 8, 2022. Flights must be completed by November 17, 2022.
Those who complete the promotion’s steps will receive a Companion Pass that allows participants to bring one person along for free on Southwest flights between January 4, 2023, and March 3, 2023.
“We know that flexibility and ease have become even more important for our customers, and this offer is a way to remind our members about the unique benefits of our award-winning Rapid Rewards program,” said Jonathan Clarkson, vice president of marketing loyalty and products at Southwest.
He added, “We’re thrilled to bring back this popular offer, making it easier for new and loyal customers to travel with their special someone.”
Southwest’s Companion Passes come at a time when leisure travel is set to wind down for the summer. Usually, such passes are reserved for rewards members that have completed 100 flights or earned 125,000 qualifying points in a calendar year.
The Dallas-based airline has spent more than $2 billion to improve the travel experience for its customers. It also launched a new online travel portal on August 24 to give more control to customers traveling for business.
In addition, the airline has promised faster internet service, power outlets at every seat on new planes, and larger overhead bins for carry-on bags.
