The third annual Runway for Hope luncheon and fashion show will take place in Dallas on February 17 at the Royal Oaks Country Club (7915 Greenville Avenue) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is organized by the Be The Difference Foundation, with proceeds benefitting annual-event collaborator Mary Crowley Cancer Research, a center founded by renowned Dallas entrepreneur Mary C. Crowley.

The Be the Difference Foundation was established in 2012 when four ovarian cancer survivors were inspired to support efforts that would give diagnosed women and their families hope.

The American Cancer Society predicts that nearly twenty thousand women will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer this year; and, sadly, more than half of them will die from their diagnosis.

While ovarian cancer is greatly treatable when detected at a preliminary stage, no reliable early detection tools currently exist. Many women express an already advanced stage of the disease by the time it is discovered.

The 2022 Runway for Hope luncheon and fashion show will feature seven models who are currently battling ovarian cancer or are in remission from the disease: Catherine Banach, Kendra Land, Jennifer Cawlfield, Josie Garza, Mimi Kogut, Rosa Orteaga, and Tammy Lunday.

These seven inspiring women will be styled in contemporary designs and showcase makeup professionally applied by Nordstrom at the Galleria artists. Hairstyling will be provided by 33 ELEVEN Salon. The Garden Gate is furnishing floral centerpieces and WFAA Health & Wellness Reporter Sonia Azad will serve as emcee. Be The Difference Co-Founder Julie Shrell and Dr. Lisa Genecov are event co-chairs.

“It is our hope that we will see a day when ovarian cancer is just a chronic disease. Until then, for our models and for anyone diagnosed with ovarian cancer, we want to be sure that there are trials available. One of these trials may just be the one that eradicates this disease forever,”Shrell shared.

Early registration is encouraged, as seating is limited.
