The 2024 “Worst of the Woke” Awards, presented by the New Tolerance Campaign (NTC), have once again highlighted the radical left’s influence on America’s most iconic businesses and universities.
From Harley-Davidson to the Paris Olympics, the NTC’s annual list highlights institutions that have embraced “woke” politics at the expense of common sense.
While many of these companies may have thought their progressive stances would make them beloved icons of the cultural elite, they’ve instead sparked an objective backlash from everyday Americans tired of celebrated extremism taking precedence over quality products and business initiatives.
Harley-Davidson, the motorcycle brand long connected with Americana and rugged independence, made headlines this year for all the wrong reasons, as previously detailed in a report from The Dallas Express.
The Moto company compounded its problems with a push for DEI initiatives that many felt were out of touch with the hardworking men and women who have supported Harley-Davidson for decades. After facing intense backlash from customers and social media critics, the company was forced to reverse course on its DEI policies and quotas, a path that many other American companies followed throughout 2024.
Similarly, Jaguar, the luxury carmaker known for its British racing history and sleek lines, has now faced criticism for an ad campaign that featured androgynous models and barely mentioned the cars themselves. The bizarre decision to emphasize progressive messaging over their product left many wondering if the brand had forgotten what made it successful in the first place.
Mattel, the maker of gender-neutral Barbie dolls, has many parents asking: “Why?” The launch of its “Creatable World” toy line, marketed as the world’s first “gender-neutral doll,” sparked a national debate over whether such products are appropriate for children or have biased political backing, as previously reported by USA Today.
Disney’s The Acolyte series was also named one of the top “woke” offenders of 2024 in a recent report from Fox News. The Star Wars spin-off, which was initially hyped as a fresh addition to the iconic franchise, turned out to be a vehicle for radical left-wing ideology. Multiple critics lambasted the show’s focus on race, gender, and sexual orientation over any foundational story based on the Star Wars universe.
Higher education institutions also took center stage in this year’s “Worst of the Woke” Awards from Fox News.
Columbia University earned its place on the list after a series of anti-Israel protests, including the occupation of Hamilton Hall, which culminated in the cancellation of its commencement ceremony due to safety concerns. The institution’s failure to uphold free speech and academic integrity in the face of political activism left many questioning whether the university is still a place for serious students or just another political battleground.
Harvard University also faced criticism throughout 2024 after its meltdown following Donald Trump’s second election victory. According to a report from The Harvard Crimson paper, the university canceled classes to give students “space to process” the presidential election results.
Additionally, the 2024 Paris Olympics took a massive hit for its controversial opening ceremony, which included drag queens performing a depiction of “The Last Supper” – an event that many saw as a deliberate attack on Christian values.
The 2024 “Worst of the Woke” Awards send a clear message that the bulk of Americans appear to be fed up with the radical left’s cultural agenda.
