On November 2, Border Patrol officials in West Texas posted a photo on Twitter of their discovery of a small child stuffed in a duffel bag.
According to Bob Price of Breitbart News, the agents found the child inside a vehicle at an immigration checkpoint in the Del Rio Sector.
“Smugglers show no regard for human life, only profits,” Del Rio Sector Border Patrol officials tweeted.
The Border Patrol officials said they discovered the young child stuffed in a duffel bag while a vehicle arrived at an immigration checkpoint to be inspected.
“She could barely move and had no means of exiting the bag on her own,” officials remarked.
This lurid discovery came when Del Rio Sector officials were being overwhelmed by larger waves of unlawful migrants entering the country.
According to Randy Clark of Breitbart Texas, Del Rio Sector agents who were on patrol close to Normandy, Texas, caught a group of almost 200 unlawful migrants who illegally traversed through the Rio Grande from Mexico.
Clark called attention to how “nearly 600 migrants in three separate groups have been apprehended marching through the farm fields on the same farm in Normandy.”
“The groups generally consist of mostly Venezuelan, Cuban, and Nicaraguan migrants according to the Border Patrol,” Clark added.
Price observed that the Del Rio Sector remains the second busiest of the nine southwestern border sectors. For example, in October, Del Rio Sector officials caught over 28,000 unlawful migrants. Rio Grande Valley Sector is still the busiest, with agents apprehending north of 45,000 unlawful migrants.
Since the Biden administration took office, border crossings have been on the rise, prompting the Texas State government to take proactive actions to address this matter.
In March, Governor Greg Abbott launched Operation Lone Star to confront the growing waves of border crossers. However, his primary challengers for the 2022 gubernatorial elections, Allen West and Don Huffines, have criticized the Texas governor for not taking sufficient action on securing the border.
West, the former Chairman of the Texas Republican Party, and Huffines, a former Texas State Senator, have made immigration enforcement significant planks of their respective gubernatorial campaign platforms.
