A Texas high school teacher has been arrested on charges of child sex trafficking and compelling prostitution.

Kedria McMath Grigsby, 42, taught cosmetology courses at Klein Cain High School, located in unincorporated Harris County, and is accused of forcing prostitution on three victims, students and reported runaways, aged 15, 16, and 17, reported ABC 13. Authorities revealed that Grigsby worked with her son, Roger Magee, 21, who was previously arrested on similar charges.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted on X that Grigsby lured “troubled juveniles from local high schools by offering them a place to stay, which would be a hotel. Additional teen victims have come forward stating that Grigsby was also attempting to recruit them while attending school. The HCSO Human Trafficking Unit will conduct a follow-up.”

The allegations against Grigsby have generated concern and unease within the Klein ISD community. The school district promptly responded, placing Grigsby on administrative leave. In a statement attributed to Klein Cain High School Principal Lauren Marti and Klein ISD Chief Marlon Runnels, the district emphasized its commitment to cooperating fully with law enforcement and ensuring that individuals engaging in such acts are brought to justice, per ABC 13.

The arrest of Grigsby follows another arrest in December of a former Klein ISD teacher in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of a 7-year-old child at Epps Island Elementary, reported KHOU 11.

Klein ISD’s continued problems have prompted a reevaluation of safety protocols and vigilance in protecting students from potential harm. The district has claimed to remain resolute in its commitment to ensuring the well-being and security of all students under its care, according to ABC 13.

There were at least 100 reported cases in Texas in 2023 where an educator was arrested or convicted for sexual crimes against children, per the Texas Scorecard. As The Dallas Express has reported, these crimes have included soliciting sex, pornography, and assault.
