Until the end of the year, Texans can help those in need by donating to Feeding Texas through a state-based app. The campaign is supported through the Favor delivery app, according to a press release, but donations can also be made on the website.
Favor CEO Jag Bath said the company has had a long partnership with Feeding Texas.
“Favor is honored to have a longstanding partnership with Feeding Texas to help end hunger across our state,” Bath shared in the press release.
“When we partnered with Feeding Texas earlier this year during Hunger Action Month, we were thrilled to achieve our goal of donating $25,000 –- 100,000 meals –- in October, and we are looking forward to doubling our impact for our final give back campaign of the year,” he continued.
Favor will also be matching contributions, up to a $25,000 total.
Favor is a Texas-based organization, according to the press release, and in 2018 it was acquired by H-E-B. The fundraising partnership was announced on December 14.
Celia Cole, the CEO of Feeding Texas, shared that inflation has made it harder for struggling Texans.
“We are grateful to Favor and its customers for joining us in the fight against hunger this holiday season,” Cole said in the press release.
“Double-digit inflation is making it harder than ever for Texas families to put food on the table, gas in the car, and pay the rent,” she said. “Our partnership with Favor helps us raise awareness of hunger and advocate for solutions to ensure that every Texan has access to the food and resources they need to survive and thrive.”
Favor was founded in 2013 in Austin. Today, it offers on-demand delivery in over 400 cities, according to the press release. Runners are able to deliver nearly anything in under an hour. Since 2013, over 60 million Favors have been delivered to Texans. The delivery app has already worked with more than 100,000 runners.
Feeding Texas works with a network of 21 food banks across the state, the press release shares. It is the largest organization for hunger relief in the Lone Star State.
“We work collaboratively within our communities to connect families to affordable, healthy food; improve the health and financial stability of the people we serve; and engage all stakeholders in advocating for hunger solutions,” Feeding Texas states.
Millions of Texans are served through the fundraiser.
Almost four million Texans — one in eight — are struggling with food insecurity and hunger, according to the press release. One in five children in Texas faces hunger. Across the state, 11% of households that include a senior deal with food insecurity.
Texas is one of nine states in the country with food insecurity higher than the national average.
Texas cities in which Favor operates, according to the website, are Arlington, Dallas, Fort Worth, Frisco, Waco, San Antonio, and Grapevine.
